April 18, 2012 – Last November, GLE Solar submitted 12 complete solar water heating systems to the Solar Rating & Certification Corporation (SRCC) for evaluation. We learned earlier this week that the SRCC had completed its review and that all 12 systems had earned OG-300 certification. This new certification will qualify these systems for additional tax incentives in states such as California and Oregon.

The certification page for each system on the SRCC’s website allows the visitor to choose a location in the United States to learn about the system’s projected energy savings in that area. Follow the link to investigate further:

Full OG-100 Certification

February 29, 2012 – The Solar Rating & Certification Corporation (SRCC) has issued formal documents granting full OG-100 certification to the SHP310, SHP410, SHP609, and SHP710 series solar collectors. GLE Solar had previously held only interim OG-100 certification, but the SRCC has finished their due diligence to affirm that GLE Solar’s line of evacuated tube batch collectors meet the criteria for this industry standard.

Since GLE Solar is the first company to develop solar collectors that are vertically-mounted and oriented facing east-west, the SRCC is still working to adapt their computer modeling software to simulate these conditions. The newly published certificates do not include performance data; new certificates will be provided with performance numbers when this information is calculated in the coming weeks. This SRCC modeling delay has also postponed GLE Solar’s OG-300 applications, but they are still on pace to be published this spring.

November 4, 2011 – The Exova testing facility in Mississauga, Ontario, has completed its performance testing of GLE Solar collectors. We have already received a copy of the testing final report, and Exova has sent the same test data to SRCC and FSEC.

With this performance data, GLE Solar products are now eligible for full certification in the OG-100 solar thermal standard. Our staff is also finalizing application materials for dozens of systems seeking SRCC’s OG-300 standard. Qualifying OG-300 systems would be eligible for some state and local tax incentives for which OG-100 collectors do not qualify.

We expect to receive OG-100 certification and FSEC collector certification in the coming weeks, and SRCC should finalize our OG-300 system certifications in early 2012.

January 19, 2011 – As of January 17, GLE Solar Energy (along with its parent company, Great Lakes Electric, LLC) has relocated its headquarters from Stevensville, Michigan, to nearby St. Joseph. The Stevensville site was the perfect location for the first stage of GLE Solar Energy’s development, but, after several successful years of operation, we have outgrown that facility.

The new facility offers the features that GLE requires for our 5-year development plan. The office space will accommodate our expanding workforce of onsite sales, marketing, design, and customer service personnel. The warehouse will handle our distribution network’s present demand with plenty of additional space for future expansion. Most importantly, the new facility offers available space for the development of a final assembly production area, which we hope to have operational within the year.

August 22, 2011 – GLE Solar Energy has been informed by a representative of the Exova testing facility in Mississauga, Ontario, that final performance testing of our solar water heaters is scheduled for early October. The Exova facility is accredited by the Solar Rating & Certification Corporation (SRCC), the premier third-party authority in the North American solar industry.

In March 2010, GLE Solar Energy received interim product certification from the SRCC. This performance testing is the last step toward full certification in the SRCC’s OG-100 and OG-300 standards. If Exova and the SRCC remain on schedule, the final performance report should be published by early November.
